Gender Affirmation
Clients going through gender reassignment have the opportunity to be their true self. If you are looking for permanent hair removal to be a part of your journey, electrolysis is the answer for you. With the ability to treat any skin tone, hair color, and hair texture, electrolysis can help you eliminate unwanted hair from your face and/or body. We are an LGBTQ friendly salon and encourage anyone seeking permanent hair removal to book a consultation and appointment for their hair removal needs.

Will I be respected?
Yes. At ElectraBeauty, we value each client's individuality and work with you to support your goals. We understand the importance of respecting your privacy and confidentiality, as well as using your correct name and pronouns.

Pre-surgery Treatment
If you are seeking treatment prior to surgery, please start your journey well ahead of time. Electrolysis can take time to ensure all hair is treated in a specific area. Please reach out to us as soon as possible to begin treatment prior to your surgery so we can meet your permanent hair removal needs!

Do you accept insurance?
Our office sees many clients that require electrolysis for medical conditions. Typically, insurance companies exclude this service from coverage. However, if your insurance company does provide coverage for electrolysis services, we can try to help you get reimbursed. Our office does not accept insurance directly, but we can do our best to help you to get reimbursed if your insurance company allows. What this means is that you will pay us at the time of your appointment, we will give you an invoice that you can submit to your insurance company, and if they allow, they may reimburse you.
ElectraBeauty requires payment at the time of your appointment. We do not guarantee reimbursement from your insurance company. It is the client's responsibility to speak with their insurance company ahead of time to determine if this is a possibility and what is required in order to get reimbursed.
Before Treatment Care
Length of Hair:
-
Long enough to be grasped by tweezers
-
About 2mm in length (usually about 3-5 days worth of growth)
-
Maintenance:
-
Stop all waxing, tweezing, or any other method to manually remove the hair
-
These methods can increase blood flow to the follicle and therefore cause the hair to become stronger and will prolong the overall length of your electrolysis journey if you continue to do them in between your appointments
-
-
Shaving or trimming the hair with scissors are acceptable methods of maintaining the hair in between treatments
Hydration:
-
Drink plenty of water a few days before as well as the day of your treatment
-
Staying hydrated allows for better electrolysis treatment and may even make treatment more comfortable
-
This is because electrolysis works with the water in your skin to destroy the hair growth cells
-
Things to avoid prior to your appointment:
-
Avoid caffeine and alcohol
-
These can dehydrate the skin and make the skin more sensitive and prone to irritation
-
-
Avoid direct sun exposure and tanning
-
If skin is sun burned in the treatment area, your appointment will need to be rescheduled
-
Please note that if you are on your menstrual cycle, you may find your skin to be more sensitive during treatment. This does not mean you have to reschedule! We sell a lidocaine gel that can be used prior to any appointment if you find treatment to be uncomfortable.
After Treatment Care
The follicles in the treated area are open and susceptible to bacteria. It is very important to keep the area clean. Please refrain from touching, rubbing, scratching, or squeezing the treated area for 24 hours.
Witch hazel and aloe work well as after care products to soothe the skin. An ice pack with a clean paper towel/cloth covering can be applied to the treated area for a short time to help with any swelling.
Avoid exposure to the sun for 48 hours.
Avoid baths, long showers, hot/humid air, sweating or anything which may irritate the skin for 24 hours.
Avoid alcohol or oil-based skin products on the treated area for 48 hours.
Additional written aftercare instructions will be given to each client at the end of their appointment. These may include more in depth information about caring for your skin after treatment.
