Preparing for your Appointment

Before Treatment Care

Length of Hair:

  • Long enough to be grasped by tweezers

    • About 2mm in length (usually about 3-5 days worth of growth)

Maintenance:

  • Stop all waxing, tweezing, or any other method to manually remove the hair

    • These methods can increase blood flow to the follicle and therefore cause the hair to become stronger and will prolong the overall length of your electrolysis journey if you continue to do them in between your appointments

  • Shaving or trimming the hair with scissors are acceptable methods of maintaining the hair in between treatments

Hydration:

  • Drink plenty of water a few days before as well as the day of your treatment

  • Staying hydrated allows for better electrolysis treatment and may even make treatment more comfortable

    • This is because electrolysis works with the water in your skin to destroy the hair growth cells

Things to avoid prior to your appointment:

  • Avoid caffeine and alcohol

    • These can dehydrate the skin and make the skin more sensitive and prone to irritation

  • Avoid direct sun exposure and tanning

    • If skin is sun burned in the treatment area, your appointment will need to be rescheduled

Please note that if you are on your menstrual cycle, you may find your skin to be more sensitive during treatment. This does not mean you have to reschedule! We sell a lidocaine gel that can be used prior to any appointment if you find treatment to be uncomfortable.
